Atlanta Lawn Care | Atlanta Lawn Service
Are weeds or crabgrass taking over your lawn? No need to panic, GrassRoots lawn services is only a phone call away! Weeds are simply plants that are out of place, and crabgrass is the most common of these. There are two important factors in determining what method to use in managing weeds, and we are the weed killer experts in this area. First, in order to kill weeds you must first identify the type of weed. The most common weeds are annual blue grass and crabgrass. The life cycle of the weed is the second factor. Annuals have a one-year life cycle, biennials have a two-year life cycle, and perennials live longer than two years. Perennials are the most difficult to eradicate, but it is no problem for the weed killers at GrassRoots lawn care services.
Here is a summary of our lawn care application season.
Early Spring:
All turf types receive a fertilization to promote root development, a pre-emergent weed control to prevent crabgrass and other spring weeds from germinating and a post-emergent weed control for existing weeds. Fescue lawns also receive fertilization high in nitrogen for continued growth and color.
Spring:
Fertilization is applied to promote healthy spring green-up of Bermuda and Zoysia lawns and to provide necessary nutrients to prepare fescue lawns for the summer months ahead. A pre-emergent weed control is applied to prevent crabgrass and other spring weeds from germinating and a post-emergent weed control for existing weeds.
Early Summer:
Slow release balanced fertilization with iron is applied to all turf types to maintain the lawns health and color as the summer heat approaches and a post emergent weed control for existing weeds. All turf types are monitored for insects and diseases at this time.
Summer:
Slow release balanced fertilization with iron applied to Bermuda and Zoysia lawns to retain the lawns health and color during the heat of the summer. Lime is applied to Fescue lawns to begin conditioning the soil for over-seeding in the fall. A post emergent weed control is applied for existing weeds and continued monitoring for insects and diseases for all turf types.
Late Summer:
All turf types receive a slow release balanced fertilization to help in the recovery from the summer stress. Post-emergent weed control applied for existing weeds and continued monitoring for insects and diseases.
Early Fall:
A Fertilizer is applied to Bermuda and Zoysia lawns to thicken and prepare the lawn for the winter months ahead. Pre-emergent weed control applied to prevent fall and winter weeds from germinating and a post-emergent weed control for existing weeds. Now is the time for over-seeding Fescue lawns so a balanced fertilization high in phosphorous is applied to promote root development for the young seedlings while providing essential nutrients for established lawns. All turf types are monitored for insects and diseases.
Late Fall:
A winterizing fertilizer is applied to Bermuda and Zoysia lawns to promote root development and food storage vital for the lawns survival through the winter months. Pre-emergent weed control applied to maintain the barrier in the soil keeping winter weeds from germinating. Fescue lawns receive a slow release balanced fertilization to promote healthy growth and color of both newly seeded lawns as well as established lawns. Post-emergent weed control applied to all turf types for existing weeds.
Winter:
Add lime to Bermuda and zoysia and dry fertilizer to fescue. All lawns get weed control for existing weeds.
All of our applications include treatments for diseases and insects (including fire ants) for the turf. Some insects and diseases require frequent applications (at additional charge) for optimum control.
